The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 3 for the Department of Police Services. The Administrative Assistant 3 will primarily operate as a receptionist and administrative support position for our records department. This position will help insure consistency and continuity of service is delivered at both Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) and University of Nevada, Reno campuses.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
This position will rotate to provide coverage at the consolidated police station at Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC). Other duties include, but are not limited to; providing fingerprint services; being the initial point of contact for walk-in inquiries; managing the daily crime log that supports the regulations and incident case log; performing case management duties; performing warrant validation duties; working in a team environment based upon respect and dignity for others in a community policing organization; coordinating outreach efforts to other campuses; performing basic clerical and administrative duties; ordering office supplies; and other duties as assigned.
This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Grade 27 (Entry, Step 01 $17.62/hr.- Step 04 $19.91/hr)
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate's qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.

The department is a full-service police department comprised of patrol operations, administration and a detective division. Services include a canine program, walking and bicycle patrols, and a pro-active, selective traffic enforcement program and takes a leadership role in preparing the University to respond to large-scale crises and events. The department consists of 73 employees (37 full-time sworn officers, 6 sworn part-time, 8 non-sworn part-time, students, and 10 full & part-time civilian support staff). The patrol area for Police Services encompasses all Nevada System of Higher Education facilities in the Reno Metropolitan area, which is approximately 106 square miles, and some facilities statewide.
